In Short : There is no real medical evidence to prove if it does stop hair growth.
Not so short: Although there are testimonies of people claiming the hair did not grow back after getting their tattoo in a hairy place, the general consensus is that it does not stop the hair from growing.
There are some cases that hair has appeared not to grow over heavily shaded areas. In these cases it’s thought that due to the heavy tattooing done for the shading, it deters the hair follicles sometimes even damaging them, thus preventing the growth. It could also be that the hair is not as visible on the shaded area, thus looking like there is none.
We all want our tattoos to be visible and if you are having trouble with hair then there are a few ways to get rid of it.
- Use the razor and cream and shave it off
- Wax it, either buy a home waxing kit or get it done at a beauty salon
- Electrolysis, this too can be done at home, but best would be to get this done professionally.
Whichever way you do decide on… DO NOT do it while your tattoo is still in the healing stage, the healing stage is on average 2 weeks, but we recommend waiting at least double that before using any of the above hair removal techniques.
Question: Do you want your tattoo to be hairless?
